In October 2011 I returned for another one month artist-in-residence stay at the Mendocino Art Center. Barbara and I lived in an apartment located on the campus. The staff of the MAC made us feel at home and were very helpful in making our stay enjoyable and productive. If you have never been to the MAC then by all means try to do so. It is an great community art center and its members are a dedicated and talented local, regional and national artists. While I was there, I worked mainly with mold making, cold casting and lost wax bronze making. The bronzes that I made are pictured below. First, here are some pictures from the art center.

Typical bronze pour on a good day at MAC

My 2011 MAC sculpture partners, Gert Rasmussen and Walt Padgett

During the residency, I worked mainly on lost wax bronze casting. Our bronze pour was sucessful and a great leaning experience. I gained a better understanding about wax models and their tolerance for the bronze transfer. Here are the figures that I brought back home. I worked with Walt Padgett to learn how to do aluminum casting, a new experience for me.

My many thanks to all at the Mendocino Art Center.
All the best,
